Goportis – Leibniz Library Network for Research Information relaunches its information portal featuring vital issues for the future of libraries.
During the last months, the Leibniz Library Network for Research Information – Goportis has thoroughly remodelled its information platform. Starting now, the joint website of the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB, Hannover), the German National Library of Medicine (ZB MED, Cologne/Bonn) and the German National Library of Economics – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics (ZBW, Kiel/Hamburg) provides information about the main issues regarding the future of scientific libraries.
The information platform puts its focus on licences, non-textual materials, long-term archiving, Open Access and in particular the supply of digital or printed full-text documents for researchers in academia and business. Informative articles, publications, contact persons and related links are freely available for every topic.
Apart from the information pages of goportis.de, it will be possible from the beginning of 2010 to search the holdings of all three libraries through their subject-specific gateways and place orders with a single customer number. Thus the TIB gateway for science and technology, GetInfo, also gives access to the holdings of the ZB MED and the ZBW. The same applies to the gateways of the ZB MED (MEDPILOT for medical topics, GREENPILOT for ecological, agricultural or nutritional topics) and the gateway for economic topics, EconBiz.
